A Place of Natural Beauty and Resilience
Nestled near León, Guanajuato, the small town of Comanjilla is home to a series of natural thermal springs known locally as las tinajas or pocitos. These mineral-rich hot springs, warmed by volcanic underground sources, offer soothing, therapeutic waters that attract visitors year-round. During holiday seasons—especially Holy Week—Comanjilla comes alive with tourism.
A Community Sustained by Tradition
For the approximately 40 families who call Comanjilla home, tourism is a vital source of income. Local residents, particularly women, sell homemade food to visitors during peak seasons. Throughout the year, many also earn income by washing clothes in the sulfuric waters, which are renowned for their natural whitening properties.
“They say the waters are healing, and among the frequent visitors are people seeking relief from a wide range of ailments.”
Despite its charm and steady flow of tourists, Comanjilla remains a vulnerable and underserved community. Resources are limited, and many families face economic hardship outside of peak tourism periods.
Giving Back with Gratitude
At LEAP Interactive, we believe that technology and compassion should go hand in hand. Moved by the strength and warmth of this community, our team, alongside friends and family, organized a visit to Comanjilla—not just to see its beauty firsthand, but to bring support where it was most needed.
We brought with us:
-
Gently used clothing
-
Blankets and household essentials
-
A shared meal to enjoy with the community
“It was a small gesture, but a heartfelt one—and a reminder of the power of connection.”
