Soon everyone will have the opportunity to become a Google reporter.
Have you ever come upon a situation that made you wish you were a reporter getting an exclusive first look at something happening in your neighborhood? Well thanks to Google’s Bulletin, a hyperlocal community news service, now you will.
Bulletin will take blogging to a whole other level by letting participants publish stories, including video and images right off their phone. This means many reporters who missed their calling get another chance to gain a following in their own communities. Currently the program is only available in Oakland and Nashville where citizen journalists are being lured into reporting by getting early access to the Bulletin application.
As if they weren’t already hurting for ratings and relevancy, local news affiliates will have their work cut out for them and will have to find ways to embrace Bulletin in order to incorporate it into their programming or risk losing even more viewership to real-time news applications.
