3 Tips for Better Social Media Pics
April 19, 2025

We’ve all heard that a picture is worth a thousand words and it’s the image that sells the product.

Here are three simple tips to help you take your images to the next level.

Tip #1:

Always take landscape photos. If you’re taking a picture with your phone simply turn your phone to the horizontal position. This allows you to take a photo that includes more background in the frame.

Tip #2:

Always include more space around your subject than what you envision in your final edited version.  Being able to crop an image to fit the social media platforms requirements for images is key. You can always remove background but you can never add without some photoshop ninja skills.

Tip #3

Just like the flying aces of old, always work with the sun behind you.  The sun will act as a natural light source and prevent flare ups in your shots.  Remember to look for your shadow to prevent it from being in the shot.

Bonus Tip:

Set your camera/phone to the largest resolution/file size available.  You can always lower the resolution as you optimize your images for web but increasing the size and resolution of a low-res image will result in the dreaded pixelated or blurry image.

Implementing these tips when taking your social media photos will help you create more engaging images that compliment your content.
